BOARD CERTIFIED IN CHIROPRACTIC ORTHOPEDICS
Dr. DeMarco holds a D.A.B.C.O. credential, which signifies status as a Diplomat of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists, having earned this honor in 1992. This is a special three- year postgraduate training open to Chiropractors once they have been in active practice for five years. Board certification is awarded after completion of the three-year program, and passing the rigorous oral and written examination process.
Chiropractic orthopedists receive in depth training in the entire musculo-skeletal system and all its parts. All aspects of physical examination (including advanced x-ray, MRI imaging, etc.), treatment options, including Chiropractic adjustive technique, physical therapy modalities, casting and bracing, and rehabilitation of muscle and joint problems are studied at length.
Training is also undergone in the worker’s compensation and disability arenas, which are constantly changing and require special understanding and treatment of the injured worker.
The Chiropractic Orthopedist is highly regarded in our profession, being one of the first Board Certifications to be offered in Chiropractic. Of the some 50,000 Chiropractors practicing in North America today, there are only about 1% that ever undergo the DABCO certification process. This status and special training makes the DABCO sought after as expert witnesses by both defense and plaintiff attorneys. Their opinions have been responsible for many large settlements in high profile medical-legal cases.
